Stanford, Santa Clara, Cal, & SJ State make NCAA Women’s Soccer College Cup

San Jose State, Santa Clara, and Stanford advance to the NCAA Women’s College Cup by winning titles

It was a good year for Bay Area NCAA Women’s Soccer teams, with four squads making the postseason.

Stanford and Santa Clara enter the postseason after winning the Pac-12 and WCC titles, respectively. San Jose Stae won the Mountain West Championship tournament, and Cal earned a spot as an at-large bid.

Stanford (16-2-2) enters the postseason as the third-ranked team in the tournament after a 9-1-1 record in the Pac-12 that was enough to win the regular season title. They will play San Jose State earned their spot in the postseason by defeating Wyoming on penalty kicks to earn the Mountain West Conference Championship.

Santa Clara (10-6-3) started the season ranked in the top ten. However, a tough pre-season schedule against some of the best teams in the county sent the club to a below .500 record. However, the team rebounded by dominating in the West Coast Conference with seven wins and two ties. Forward Izzy D’Aquila has led the Bronco’s attack with 18 goals.

They will face off against UC Berkeley (10-4-6, 5-3-3), which finished in fourth place in the Pac-12. The Broncos will host Berkeley on Saturday at 1 pm.
