It’s been a busy two weeks of Bay Area Soccer in the USL League 2 Southwest Division.

The San Francisco City faithful filled Kezar Stadium on May 20 for the first time in two years. They were not able to claim the victory falling to Central Valley Fuego FC 1-0.

But a week later City traveled to the Central Valley and exacted their revenge beating Fuego FC 3-0. In the 7th minute, Roberto Gonzalez scored on a free kick to put San Francisco ahead. A minute later Gustavo Ferrari got on the end of a long ball and got around two Fuego defenders to hit a terrific shot to the far post to double City’s advantage.

After the Fuego’s Jamar Rickets earned a red card in the 88th minute, Leonardo Barajas put the game to bed with a strike in extra time for the 3-0 final scoreline to San Francisco.

Next up for SF City is the SF Derby against the Glens on Saturday, June 4. The kickoff is at 3 pm at Boxer Stadium.

Next up for the Glens was a midweek road trip to Davis to take on the Legacy. After falling behind by two goals, San Francisco’s Sean Bilter and Junior Mahi scored in the last seven minutes to earn a valuable point.

On Sunday a Max Chrétien goal in the 32nd minute was the difference maker for the Glens against the previously undefeated Project 51O. SF goalkeeper Hugo Dutour made several big stops to preserve the victory.

“What a great team win,” SF Glens head coach Gabe Saucedo said. “Everybody came up big despite the circumstances. Max is a beast and Hugo was clutch. Slowly but surely we’re finding our identity.”

Next up for the Glens is the SF Derby versus SF City.

Project 51O defeated Central Valley Fuego FC 2 on May 22 4-1. Their next game is at Ohlone College on June 5 against Southern California Seahorses.
