San Francisco’s supporter-owned soccer team is teaming up with the city of San Francisco’s public transit agency as their shirt sponsor.

For the next two seasons, SF Muni’s iconic worm logo will grace the chest of the SF City jersey during their USL League 2 campaign. In a press release announcing the partnership, the club noted that the team plays its games in San Francisco’s two iconic soccer stadiums, Kezar and Boxer Stadium. Both facilities are easily accessible by the public transportation agency’s light rail and bus lines.

“This alliance aims to raise awareness for the club and increase ridership for Muni, benefiting both soccer enthusiasts and city residents,” SF City noted. They added that riding public transit to games creates a greener, more interconnected, and sustainable city.

“Kicking off an exciting new partnership with the San Francisco City Football Club with a jersey sponsorship that features the iconic Muni worm logo,” SF Muni tweeted after the announcement. “Thank you @SFCityFC for amplifying the spirit of San Francisco and #SFMuni.”

The announcement looks to have been immediately popular with San Francisco soccer fans. A limited supply of SF City’s 2023 home, away, and seagull keeper shirts with SF Muni’s Worm logo quickly sold out on the club’s website. Pre-orders for the 2024 jerseys with the worm logo will go live in November.
