In a game of few chances the San Francisco Deltas drew with the New York Cosmos 0-0 on Saturday.

The official stats for the game showed only one shot on target by San Francisco and none by New York.

Deltas striker Tommy Heinemann was able to stay onside when a through-ball found his feet in the 24th minute. His shot on target was covered by New York keeper Bryan Holt.

The Cosmos then had several good chances at the end of the first half and in the second period but were unable to direct any of the shots on target.

Kenny Teijsse took a ball down in the box during the dying moments of the match but his shot sailed just over the bar.

“Our mentality and discipline in the game was very good. Our guys showed commitment and great spirit,” said SF Deltas head coach Marc Dos Santos. “Although we didn’t create a lot of chances, we had two excellent opportunities that could have changed the game. We limited New York and we got a deserved point.”

With the draw San Francisco remain in fifth place at 13 points.

The Deltas return to action next Wednesday in an away US Open Cup game against the USL’s Phoenix Rising FC.
