Bay Area Soccer Roundup: SF Deltas’ tryouts attract crowd, yield results

DELTAS’ TRYOUTS ATTRACT CROWD, YIELD RESULTS

The Bay Areas newest entry into professional soccer, the San Francisco Deltas, held open auditions last week. On Friday at Crocker Amazon Soccer Fields, some 300 players turned up with the goal (see what we did there) of making the squad, in hopes of playing in the NASL next season.

The following day, the top 30 players were brought back to compete in a Saturday showcase. Representatives of several Northern California teams attended the tryouts, including San Francisco City FC, Real San Jose, Sacramento Republic FC, East Bay Stompers FC, Burlingame Dragons FC, and others.

Four local players were selected to participate in the Deltas training camp, with a real shot at making the team. Center-Midfielder, Saalih Muhammad (Rocklin, CA), goalkeeper Jonathan Arellano (San Jose), left-midfielder, Julien Melendez (San Rafael), and goalkeeper, Adrian Iniguez (Pomona) all received congratulatory calls from Deltas’ Head Coach, Marc Dos Santos, along with Todd Dunivant, Director of Soccer Operations and José Carlos Brunoro, Consulting GM.

Season tickets for the San Francisco Deltas’ inaugural season are on sale now.
