Bay Area Pro Soccer unveiled its logo today to the public.

Bay Area Pro Soccer unveiled the logo for the team that is expected to play in the NASL soccer league in 2017. The logo, triangular in shape, consists of the colors red, black and grey. The letters “S” and “F” are overlaid in the center to represent San Francisco. The logo appears to be an homage to the “red triangle,” a roughly triangular region that extends from Sonoma, out to the Farallon islands and down to Monterey Bay, which has a large marine mammal population and a great concentration of white sharks. Last week the team, which bills itself as a “soccer startup,” mentioned the red triangle in its beta version of the website.

It is widely expected that Bay Area Pro Soccer will formally announce in February that it will become a member of NASL, the second division of professional soccer in the United States. Although the team released the logo it still has not announced the name of the soccer club.

The #NASL is expecting to announce west coast expansion within 2 months. @TempleOfSoccer intends to cover the #LAAztecs in case of arrival.

With San Francisco featuring prominently in the logo, it appears that the team will indeed be located in the city. However there has been speculation that the team could potentially play in the East Bay or on the Peninsula.

The team also released images of the logo on a shirt…

That is instantly one of the best logos in soccer! #NASL https://t.co/EQdtc0a90F

@EvanReam It’s positively awful. My first thought was…biohazard.

Am I the only one that isn’t confused or think the #NASL logo for the SF club looks silly? Fits to a tee the branding they are going after.

— Brian Cook (@SoccerwithBrian) January 21, 2016

@EvanReam Hmm…that’s not awful, but I wouldn’t call it good either. The hidden “F” might be too hidden.

@EvanReam if the kit is sweet, it may bring more out into the crest. Believe it or not, I am putting a too early to call on this one.

Hoping that the SF NASL team is named “Red Triangle FC”

What are your thoughts on the logo?
