Jack Skahan’s first-ever goal for the San Jose in extra time helped the Earthquakes earn a point on the road against Toronto FC.

Quakes Forward Jeremy Ebobisse also scored his tenth goal of the season.

“I think we started the game pretty good here in Toronto,” said interim Earthquakes coach Alex Covelo. “We knew we needed to press their midfield well in order to have opportunities and have possession the ball which is why we were able to score. In the second half, we started very nervous, and we stopped playing with the ball and were stretched out which allowed them to play. When you do not apply the right pressure to [Jonathan] Osorio and [Michael] Bradley, the guys can then play.”

After the game Skahan was nonchalant about scoring his first goal.

“I think the message was to attack, to go after them, try to tie the game,” Skahan said. “I don’t think it was too complicated, it was just to get after them and try to score.”

Next up for the Quakes is a road game against rivals LA Galaxy on Wednesday.
