The San Jose Earthquakes fell to Real Salt Lake 2-0.

Marcelo Silva scored for Real Salt Lake in the 22nd minute and Jefferson Savarino finished off the game in the 81st minute.

“First off, we need to recover from this game and analyze it because we did not have the best game today offensively and defensively for several moments,” said interim Earthquakes head coach Alex Covelo. “[Real Salt Lake] scored from one situation off a set piece and the other was off a mistake that was we committed. In the first half they, were able to run in behind a little bit more because we were unable to press well.”

Next week the Quakes return to the Bay Area for the California Classico against LA Galaxy at Stanford Stadium.
