SF Deltas give up 3 goals, lose to Armada

After playing a stout defense all season, it seemed like the Deltas would never give up more than one goal in a game. That streak and San Francisco’s two-game league winning streak, both came to an end on Friday night at Kezar Stadium when the visiting Armada poured on the goals to win 3-0.

Jacksonville’s Zach Steinberger scored in the 28th minute and dealt another harsh blow by finding the net just before the halftime whistle. Derek Gebhard put the game out of doubt with his finish in the 73rd minute.

It appeared as if the Deltas just did not have the legs to grind out another result after playing their third game in six days.

San Francisco had a chance to move into first place with a win. Instead, they fell to fifth place in the NASL standings behind the Cosmos on goal differential.

They now get eight days off before traveling to New York to face off with the Cosmos on Saturday, May 27th.
